Babington’s Annual Head Office Review

Writer: Jonalie Mae IgnacioJonalie Mae Ignacio

Concept & Purpose

Every year, Babington conducts a “Head Office Review”. This is where we inspect every centre to check that they are following certain key policies and standards in organizing their lessons and maintaining their centre.

We do this to ensure that our high standards are being maintained and to help those centres falling short to improve their performance. Reviews can help centres to pick up on minor errors, to become more aware of what they need to monitor and where errors can occur, and to better understand tasks they aren’t performing well.

We believe that this provides a uniquely high standard of quality control among learning centres in Hong Kong.

Conducting the Review

Members of Head Office’s Training Team go to every centre to inspect them in person. They have a predefined list of criteria to check. Each item on the checklist receives a score from 0 (not done or not meeting minimum standards), to 3 (done entirely correctly), with the team checking against a rubric that defines score boundaries to ensure consistency. These scores are then added together and converted to a percentage to show the centre’s overall performance.

The inspector goes over the results immediately after the Review with the manager of each centre to highlight any errors found and any areas that need work, so that managers can begin  addressing these right away.

All the scores are compiled to analyze the overall performance of the company across all centres and all criteria. In particular, the data is analyzed to look out for areas in which multiple centres are underperforming or areas where performance has dropped.

2024 Results

We are very pleased to report that the average score across all centres was 88%, a 1.2% increase on last year. This is the 5th year in which the Review has been conducted in a way that produces percentage scores, and the average score has increased every year, showing the value and benefit of such quality control for our company.

19 of our centres scored in the “Excellent” category, i.e. over 90%. A special mention goes to our Tai Wai centre which attained a perfect score of 100%. Other exceptionally high scoring centres were Sai Ying Pun, Kowloon Bay, & Tai Po (98.9%), Ma On Shan, Mei Foo, Shek Mun, & Yuen Long (97.7%), North Point & Kwai Chung (96.6%), and Po Lam (95.4%).

Follow Up

Following the Reviews, the entire Head Office team meets to discuss the results and decide on any actions needed, either company-wide or with specific centres.

All of the lower scoring centres, and any centres where a significant issue was found, have a follow up meeting with their Account Manager to make sure that action is being taken to resolve the centre’s issues and provide them with any extra support if necessary.

Final Thoughts

The Annual Review, and this year’s positive results, reflect Babington's unwavering commitment to excellence and continuous improvement. By maintaining high standards and fostering a culture of collaboration and support, we ensure that every centre is equipped to provide the best possible learning experience for our students. We are proud of our progress and remain dedicated to helping all centres achieve even greater success in the future.
