Introduction
Last Sunday, we were thrilled to host our highly anticipated event, the Babington Bear & Friends Family Fun Day, at Sai Kung's Lions Nature Education Centre. Filled with excitement, laughter, and fascinating challenges, the day was a delightful blend of fun and learning for over 100 attendees, both children and parents. The sun was shining, the air was buzzing with enthusiasm, and the event was everything we hoped it would be—and much more!
The Adventurous Start
As the day began, children and parents arrived full of anticipation, greeted by our enthusiastic team. After a briefing to set the day's stage, families were split into groups, each armed with a pack containing seven thrilling challenges. These challenges were ingeniously designed to involve photo hunting of targeted subjects, such as intriguing insects, magnificent trees, or elusive animals. Every snapshot captured was not merely a picture but a point awarded, adding to the suspense and competitive spirit.
Orienteering Challenge: A Test of Wits and Teamwork
The grand finale of the challenges was the orienteering challenge—a test of both intellect and physical stamina. Each group, equipped with a digital stick and a map, set off on a quest for wooden checkpoints scattered around the park. As they plugged their sticks into these checkpoints, it recorded their time, turning the serene park into an exciting racetrack.
Find Babington Bear: A Delightful Bonus Game
Amidst the carefully crafted challenges, a delightful bonus game, "Find Babington Bear and his Family," unfolded. Before the event, 50 Babington Bears were cleverly hidden throughout the park, waiting to be discovered. The young adventurers loved this quest, their faces lighting up with joy every time they found a bear. The thrill of the hunt combined with the charm of Babington Bear made this the highlight of the day for many!
A Well-Deserved Break
By noon, it was time for a well-deserved break at the meeting point. The pavilion was buzzing with stories of the morning's adventures, while everyone enjoyed delicious snacks and refreshing drinks. The real-life Archie, the beloved Labrador from our Babington Bear and Friends storybook series, was there to meet and greet. His gentle manners and friendly nature made him a big hit with the children, and the photos they took together will undoubtedly become treasured keepsakes.
Family Games: Fun, Laughter, and Teamwork
Fully recharged, families participated in an entertaining game called "Cross the Bridge." This game required groups of children and a family member to cross an imaginary bridge by passing cardboard pieces to each other—a test of balance, coordination, and teamwork. The game drew smiles and laughter from both the participants and spectators, encapsulating the spirit of the day—family fun!
A Heartfelt Farewell
After a day full of joy and excitement, it was time to say goodbye. As our young participants waved farewell, each left with a goodie bag brimming with colourful stationery, a sweet ending to an unforgettable day.

As the event's creator and host, Wendy poured her heart and soul into making this day a memorable one for all. Her dedication was so profound that she braved being stung by bees – not once, but twice – while hiding Babington Bears around the park for the children's hunt! Wendy, your passion and commitment are truly inspirational.
Appreciation for Our Talented Teachers: Naledi and Faith
We also want to express our sincere gratitude to our brilliant teachers, Naledi from our Kornhill centre and Faith from Tiu Keng Leng centre. Your energy, patience, and dedication made this event a joy for children and parents alike. Your tireless efforts and commitment to making learning fun have left a lasting impression on everyone who attended. Thank you, Naledi and Faith, for your invaluable contributions!
A Big Paw-five to Archie
Archie, our lovable Labrador who also happens to be the real-life counterpart of the Archie character from our Babington Bear and Friends series, deserves a massive paw-five! Archie, your presence brought the storybook to life and added an extra layer of excitement and joy to the day. Your friendly nature and endearing charm won over not just the children but also the parents.

Lastly, but most importantly, we want to thank all the parents and children who attended the Family Fun Day. You were the stars of the show, the heart of this event. Your laughter, enthusiasm, and sporting spirit filled the day with the best kind of energy. It was a pleasure to see the park come alive with your joy and excitement. You made this day truly special, and we can't wait to create more memorable experiences with you in the future.
