Long ago, there lived a girl named Florence Nightingale. She was born into a rich family. Florence loved helping people and taking care of others. Her dream was to become a nurse and make sick people feel better.
Florence’s family didn’t think nursing was a good job. They wanted her to do something different. But Florence didn’t give up on her dream. She studied hard, learnt everything she could about nursing, and became a nurse. She also wrote some nursing books.
One day, a war broke out. Florence decided to travel to a faraway hospital to help the sick people and injured soldiers there. She worked day and night, taking care of patients and making sure they had everything they needed.
Florence would walk through the hospital at night, checking on her patients with a lamp. She became known as ‘The Lady with the Lamp’. Her kindness and dedication made a big difference in the hospital.
Finally, Florence became famous for her work as a nurse. She showed everyone that nursing was a very important job. People all around the world knew about her bravery and kindness. All of them admired her for helping so many sick and injured people.
