Do you want to know the secret of how plants ‘drink’ water? Join us in nexploring the amazing journey of water in plants together!
How do plants ‘drink’ water when they don’t have mouths? Let’s find out!

Step 1: Roots are Like Straws
Plants have roots that burrow deep into the soil. The roots aren’t just for holding the plant in place; they have another crucial job. They act like tiny straws, drawing up water, just like how you would sip a drink with a straw. Even though we can’t hear them, imagine the roots saying, ‘Delicious!’ as they drink.

Step 2: The Stem Water Lift
After the roots have their fill, they send the water upwards. Where does it go? Right into the plant’s stem. Imagine the stem as a water lift, carrying the water up, up, up to the very top!

Step 3: Meeting the Leaves
Finally, the water reaches the green leaves. Some water becomes water vapour, like when you breathe on a freezing day. It’s called ‘transpiration’. It’s a big word, but think of it as the plant’s way of breathing out. So, every time you water a plant, picture this amazing journey the water takes from the soil, through the roots, up the stem, and out the leaves! And remember, we need water to be healthy. Plants do, too!
